Finding The Right Customer?  The Internet Can Help The Customer Find You

recession proof marketingDemographics are different in Internet marketing.  In print advertising, the publication has an audience appeal and that is quantified through market research and surveying.

With Internet marketing the audience makes itself known to the marketer through his or her search for information on the Internet.  The trick is to come up first in the search results listings

The Worth of the Internet is in the Economics

The true worth of the Internet as a channel for business promotion is in the economics.  Some consider that marketing on the Internet is something akin to getting rid of the bugs around the house with a shotgun.  If you understand the Internet shopper, you will see that this is not the case.

On The Internet, Your Audience Identifies Itself

Unlike traditional channels of promotion where the medium (magazines, newspapers, television, etc.) is differentiated by the demographics of their subscriber audience, the opposite happens with the Internet researcher/shopper.

Those who seek information, products, or services on the Internet represent the differentiating demographic.  Each one of us searches for a specific item.  As we engage a search engine to help us answer our questions or find our product, the magic of the search engine is performed and the specific products and companies are brought to us from the immense mass of information stored in all corners of the Internet.

The Winner in the Marketing Race
is the One Who CONTROLS the Search Engines

search enginesThe magic of the Internet search can be controlled.  There are a few companies (among them, ThriveMarketing) that understand the methods of a search engine and can control it to an extent to make sure a client company’s information, products, and services are brought to the top of the search results.

Controlling search results increases the chance of the target demographic finding you.  That is contrary to the usual way of marketing through print or video media as the demographic target audience is brought to the marketer instead of the marketer seeking the target through a medium’s demographics.

The Cost is Vastly Different between
Print and Internet Promotion

PRINT

When evaluating where to spend your promotional dollar in a recessionary or down-turning market, take a closer look at the math of the medium you intend to use.

  • Print media costs are estimated using a formula of impressions per dollar spent
  • The return on the investment for print media would then be number of potential customers approaching you who have seen (impression) your ad.
  • The price of ad space in a print publication varies greatly from local fliers and newspapers to color subscribed magazines such as Phoenix Magazine, which publishes 12 times per year to about 63,000 Arizona subscribers owning $600,000 homes, 69% of the readers are female with an average age of 54. If that is not your audience, then you may be wasting promotional dollars.
  • Cost of preparing the ad could run tens of thousands.

INTERNET

  • On the other hand, Internet advertising is measured in cost-per-click.
  • The loaded cost per click would include making the ad or web page and hosting the webpage. Preparation costs usually run in the area of hundreds to a few thousand
  • Your return on investment is measured in click-through numbers resulting in a lead or sale. Two to five click-throughs per one hundred viewings is typical.

In a recessionary market, it quickly becomes clear that Internet marketing has great appeal and just may be the answer to your promotional efforts.

Learning how to control the keys to the search through an Internet marketing professional such as those at ThriveMarketing controls the keys to your business success.  The goal is to maximize the number of contacts that result in new business.

Internet marketing is an economical way to reach and surpass your business goals.

Thrive Marketing Connection to American Idol

brooke whiteBrooke White, a top 5 contestant on this year’s American Idol, is also famous with ThriveMarketing. A little known fact about Brooke … Not only is she a talented singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist, she also excels at illustrating. Brooke is a former graphic artist for Thrive Marketing.

White cites musical influences as the “soulful sounds of the 70’s” including artists James Taylor, Carole King, and Carly Simon and notes John Mayer as a contemporary musical influence. Judge Simon Cowell chose White early as one of his four favorites in the competition, along with David Archuleta, Jason Castro and David Cook, when he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, which aired on March 17, 2008.

This week the Idols turn their attention to the legendary music of Neil Diamond. Don't miss the action tonight, Tuesday 8/7c on FOX.  And, if you like what you hear, vote for our own favorite, Brooke White. Remember, there is no limit to the number of votes you can cast within the two hour window immediately following the show.
